Sustainability in creating energy is necessary - especially on an isolated and beautiful location like Kauai.
A key element in creating a sustainable energy future is personal energy conservation.
Everyone must be involved to reach toward our goal of energy sustainability.
Within a month or so we will know who will be representing us at KIUC.
For the Past 3 years I have been actively involved in trying to influence our electrical cooperative to; 1) develop more sustainable and independent forms of power generation on our Island, 2) Assist the member owners in reducing their personal energy usage, and 3) and trying to get KIUC (Kauai Island Utility Cooperative) to act more like a cooperative and less like a "for profit" business. Soon we will see if "3 is a Charm" for me - I hope it is.
Over these past 3 years I have attended almost every Board Meeting and offered testimony when I felt it could offer some insight. I have been an active member of Apollo Kauai, Kauai's Alternative Energy promoters, and have participated in various Apollo activities designed to educate our fellow Kauaians regarding energy issues, assist in lowering energy consumption, and I have provided testimony on various energy issues to the Mayor, County Council and State Legislature.
I have worked with Blue Planet Foundation on initiatives to educate Kauai's Keiki on energy conservation, including some in-depth classroom work with Kalaheo Elementary 5th Graders where I am the PTSA President.
As you can see from these web pages, I have been active in pursuing my passions and want to continue to do so on KIUC's Board of Directors. I would appreciate your vote.
